Somerton, AZ cops enhance patrols with Trikke Positrons

Yet another force adds electric patrollers for faster response, community connection, and greater efficiency.

The Somerton Police Department in Arizona is taking community policing to the next level with the introduction of three-wheeled patrol vehicles from Trikke Professional Mobility. Featured in a recent KYMA News segment, SPD is now using the Trikke Positron to increase visibility, reduce costs, and foster engagement.

“They’re battery operated, so obviously that’s going to save on fuel and maintenance,” said Captain Joe Jenkins in the video. “They can travel upwards of 40 miles per hour and last probably the entire shift, so the efficiency is what we’re looking at.

Beyond performance, SPD has already seen strong community engagement. “We had kids going by when the officers were doing training and were asking what they were and if they could ride them,” Jenkins added.

See how Somerton PD transformed its patrol operations in our in‑depth Somerton PD case study.

Each Positron comes equipped with emergency lights, gear storage, and smooth handling for sidewalks, streets, and parks—providing high-visibility patrol with zero emissions and fast response.

Video showcases real-world advantages of the Trikke Positron

See how our best patroller strengthens security across diverse patrol environments.

Police departments and private security companies across the U.S. are integrating the Trikke Positron, a fully electric personal patrol vehicle designed for quiet, smooth, and efficient operation—all at a cost of just pennies per hour.

Unlike recreational electric vehicles, the Positron is built for law enforcement. Officers are using it to patrol courthouses, sprawling justice campuses, and dense urban areas where traditional police cruisers may not be practical. The Positron is also proving valuable for special operations, where law enforcement agencies assess high-crime areas and strategically deploy patrol resources.

With a top speed of 37 mph, the Trikke Positron is an effective alternative to standard patrol vehicles, particularly in airports, stadiums, schools, and neighborhoods. Its ability to navigate streets and sidewalks with ease allows officers to move efficiently through crowded environments while maintaining high visibility and access—a key advantage over squad cars, bicycles, or foot patrols.

Not only does the Positron improve response times, but it also enhances community policing efforts. Officers on Trikke patrol vehicles are more approachable, allowing them to engage with the public while covering more ground.

The Trikke Positron is quickly becoming the personal electric vehicle of choice for law enforcement agencies looking to modernize their patrol operations.

Alabama convention center uses Trikke patrollers to enhance visitor safety

Three-wheel Defenders offer unique form of transportation for safety officers in the heart of the Birmingham’s Uptown Entertainment District.

The Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC) has taken a major step forward in improving security, and their efforts are making headlines. Recently featured in a local news story, the BJCC’s decision to deploy Trikke Defenders has been recognized as a game-changer in safety and efficiency.

Trikke patrol vehicles, known for their innovative design and zero-emission electric power, provide BJCC security personnel with a quick, quiet, and highly visible way to patrol the sprawling campus. The Defender is built for both indoor and outdoor environments, making it the perfect fit for the dynamic complex.

On their website, BJCC officials emphasized how the 48-volt, 3WD Defender with solid tires helps bridge the gap between foot and vehicle patrols. As BJCC’s Director of Public Safety Kenneth Scott noted, “Trikkes have a distinctive appearance that captures attention, breaks the ice, and allows security personnel to engage with the public. These interactions help to build relationships and contribute to a safer campus environment.”

The integration of Trikke patrollers is a strategic move to bolster public safety efforts at BJCC’s key venues, including Legacy Arena, Protective Stadium, and City Walk BHAM. With a high volume of visitors attending events, concerts, and conventions, security teams require reliable and efficient mobility solutions to ensure a safe environment.

BJCC Executive Director and CEO Tad Snider echoed this sentiment, stating, “Integrating the Trikkes will allow our public safety team to navigate the campus more effectively, increase visibility, and promote a heightened sense of safety, ultimately enhancing the experience for everyone.”

The addition of Trikke patrol vehicles underscores BJCC’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology to enhance security while remaining environmentally responsible. As a busy hub for events, conferences, and entertainment, the complex sees thousands of visitors daily, making safety a top priority.

Trikke Professional Mobility is proud to partner with forward-thinking organizations like BJCC to help transform security operations. Whether for convention centers, campuses, or shopping malls, Trikke patrol vehicles are redefining what’s possible for modern security teams.
