Somerton, AZ cops enhance patrols with Trikke Positrons
Yet another force adds electric patrollers for faster response, community connection, and greater efficiency.
The Somerton Police Department in Arizona is taking community policing to the next level with the introduction of three-wheeled patrol vehicles from Trikke Professional Mobility. Featured in a recent KYMA News segment, SPD is now using the Trikke Positron to increase visibility, reduce costs, and foster engagement.
“They’re battery operated, so obviously that’s going to save on fuel and maintenance,” said Captain Joe Jenkins in the video. “They can travel upwards of 40 miles per hour and last probably the entire shift, so the efficiency is what we’re looking at.
Beyond performance, SPD has already seen strong community engagement. “We had kids going by when the officers were doing training and were asking what they were and if they could ride them,” Jenkins added.

Each Positron comes equipped with emergency lights, gear storage, and smooth handling for sidewalks, streets, and parks—providing high-visibility patrol with zero emissions and fast response.
